Check out the following ways house calls can benefit you and your pet:
If the pet can stay in its home, there is a lower risk of being exposed to diseases that may be found in a hospital waiting room. This is especially important for very young or very old pets that do not have good immunity and for pets with weakened immune systems.
The car ride, unfamiliar sounds and surroundings, and temperature swings can produce undue stress for your pet. Sometimes the fears will lead a pet to mask their symptoms, which can alter the examination. The benefit of having the vet see your pet in your own home is the animals maintain their comfort and security. This produces a happier, safer, healthier pet and a more accurate diagnosis.
A house call visit is more convenient and less stressful for you! By not having to gather up your pets, drive to a clinic and wait, then drive back home, there is less time wasted for you. Frequently, we are able to offer greater freedom in scheduling, by booking evening and weekend appointments.
Most of all, house call veterinary service helps us better evaluate your pet. We find that examining the animal in the home provides additional information about your pet, their environment, behaviors, and nutrition that can help lead to better treatments. Typically a pet at home is a happy pet, and a happy pet is one who heals more quickly and does better overall during treatments.

Dr. Dawkins is wonderful. Her calm, professional manner helped my two big old dogs through the stress of the dreaded check-up. I am so thankful for Dr. Dawkins and am so happy to have her to call on to guide me and my dogs as they go through their last years. What a relief!! —Linda P.
